There is something magical about arriving somewhere completely different from home.

As the plane begins its descent into Fairbanks, you'll notice endless forests stretching toward the horizon, winding rivers, and mountains standing quietly in the distance. It doesn't take long to realize this isn't just another destination.

This is Alaska.

For many travelers, Fairbanks is simply the first stop on an Alaska Cruisetour. But I believe it's much more than that. It's where we leave everyday life behind and begin discovering what makes Alaska unlike anywhere else in the world.

Fairbanks is known as the Golden Heart City, a nickname that reflects both its Gold Rush history and the warm hospitality of the people who call Alaska home.

Founded during the Gold Rush in the early 1900s, Fairbanks quickly became a bustling community of dreamers, explorers, and adventurers. Today, you'll still find reminders of that pioneering spirit everywhere you look.

This city blends history, culture, and breathtaking natural beauty, making it the perfect introduction to Alaska's Interior.

One of the first things many visitors notice isn't something they see.

It's something they feel. Take a deep breath. The air is crisp, fresh, and scented with spruce trees. There is a peacefulness here that is hard to describe until you've experienced it yourself.

One of the biggest thrills of visiting Alaska is never knowing what wildlife you might encounter.

The Chena River (our River Boat Cruise)

The Chena River has played an important role in Fairbanks for generations.

During our time here, we'll have the opportunity to experience one of Fairbanks' most beloved traditions as we cruise this beautiful river. Along the way, we'll learn about Alaska's history, meet people who live this unique lifestyle, and gain a deeper appreciation for the rugged beauty that surrounds us.

This isn't just sightseeing.

It's a glimpse into everyday life in Alaska.

Endless Summer Days

One of my favorite things about Alaska is that the scenery makes you want to slow down.

If you've never visited Alaska in the summer, one of the biggest surprises is how much daylight you'll enjoy.

In August, the sun stays up much later than most of us are used to, giving us long evenings to explore, relax, and take in the incredible scenery.

You may find yourself checking your watch because it feels like afternoon, only to realize it's already evening.

It's one of those little surprises that makes Alaska so unforgettable.

My Hope for You

When I think about Fairbanks, I don't immediately think about attractions or landmarks.

I think about the feeling of arriving. That first deep breath of cool Alaskan air.

The excitement of knowing the adventure is finally beginning.

The realization that for the next two weeks, we'll be exploring one of the most beautiful places on Earth together.

I hope you'll give yourself permission to slow down, look around, and truly take it all in.

Because this isn't just the first stop on our itinerary. It's the first page of a story I hope you'll be telling for years to come.
